My Tuesday started with a raccoon in my garage and ended with a quote I use daily
I run a small pest control outfit in Fresno, so critter calls are my bread and butter, but last Tuesday was a mess. A raccoon had ripped through a client's garage ceiling at 7 AM, and by noon I was elbow deep in insulation while the homeowner kept asking if I could 'just scare it out.' I patched the hole, set a trap, and the thing was gone by dinner, but the real gem came from the client's 70 year old neighbor who watched me work. He said, 'You don't fix the problem, you fix what invited the problem in,' and that hit me harder than it should have. I spent the drive home thinking about how I used to just plug holes and hope, but now I walk every property looking for food sources, water leaks, and easy entry points first. That simple quote changed how I bid jobs too, I charge for the full fix, not the quick patch, and my repeat calls dropped by half in just 3 weeks. Has anyone else had a random stranger's throwaway line totally rewire their whole approach?
