Head's up about the load charts taped to the wall at the supply yard on Route 9
Stopped by the lumber yard on Route 9 in Poughkeepsie last Tuesday to grab a few 2x10s and noticed the load chart taped up by the rack was from 2018. The span ratings on it don't match what the newer SPF stock actually handles, and a couple of the tables in there were revised almost two years back. I stood there for maybe ten minutes comparing it to the spec sheet in my truck and the difference on a 16 foot span was close to 8 inches of allowed deflection. The counter guy shrugged and said nobody had asked about it, which kind of bothered me. If you're pulling numbers off a chart stapled to a wall, check the print date first, because that one was stale enough to matter on a deck job I quoted back in the spring. Has anyone else run into outdated span tables posted at their yard, or is this just a Poughkeepsie thing?
