Shoutout to the envelope system that got me through my first solo rent payment in 2019
Back when I got my first place in Fort Wayne, I stuffed cash into paper envelopes labeled rent, gas, food, and fun, and once an envelope was empty that was it. Now I use a spreadsheet on my phone and move money around with two taps, which is faster but way easier to cheat. I switched about 2 years in after losing a $20 bill somewhere between the couch and the laundromat. The cash thing hurt more when I spent it, and I think that's why it worked so well for me at the start. Does anyone still run cash envelopes for certain bills, or did you all go digital too?
