Rant: That $40 meal delivery kit I signed up for to save time really burned my budget

I signed up for one of those meal kit services thinking itd cut down on grocery store impulse buys. Three weeks in I was spending $40 per box for tiny portions I could have made for $12 at the store. Did anyone else get sucked into that promo and end up losing more than you saved?

Half a batch in the trash is basically flushing cash down the toilet, especially with how pricey those starter kits are these days. My brother signed up for a meal plan service and ended up tossing three full boxes of ingredients because he just kept ordering takeout instead. The sad part is he claimed he'd save money, but all he really saved was a pile of wilted spinach and some rock-hard avocados.
