My $14 airport sandwich hack failed hard in Denver last Tuesday
I always pack a empty water bottle and a bag of almonds to skip airport food prices, but TSA tossed my almonds at Denver because they were in an open bag. I ended up paying $14 for a sad turkey sandwich at the gate. So now I double bag snacks or just buy stuff after security. What snacks do you all bring that actually make it through?
Wait, they threw out your almonds because the bag was open? What did they think you were going to do, build a tiny almond cannon mid-flight? I had a similar thing happen when TSA made me toss an unopened jar of peanut butter because apparently spreadable food counts as a liquid now, which is a whole other level of weird. My go-to that never gets flagged is protein bars still sealed in the box, or those little cheese cracker packs. The trick seems to be keeping everything in its original closed wrapper so it doesn't look like a loose pile of mystery food. Kind of wild that a $2 bag of almonds cost you a $14 sandwich in the end.
