I called him cheap and he shot back that he'd rather spend that saved cash on pastries and tram tickets than a hotel bed he only uses for 6 hours anyway. Did the math and 5 nights on a Lisbon rooftop ran him $90 total, while my hostel bunk across town was $47 a night. Now I'm second guessing every hotel I've ever booked and wondering if I'm the sucker here. Where's the weirdest spot you've actually paid to crash, and was it worth it?
