The $90 moisture meter that lied to my snake plant

Bought a fancy digital moisture meter online, it said my potting mix was bone dry when it was soaked. Three weeks later the roots rotted out and I lost the plant. I went back to shoving my finger in the soil, works better and costs nothing. Anyone else wasted cash on gadgets that just make you feel like a real gardener?
