Took my book club 6 meetings to finish one 300 page novel, and I finally see why
We picked a dense historical book back in January and figured 5 weeks was plenty, but here we are in early April still arguing about chapter 4 and half the group hasn't cracked past page 90. Turned out the real issue was that we kept voting on new books every session instead of just reading the one we had, so we'd burn 40 minutes on picks and only 20 on the actual chapter. Does your club set a hard cutoff for finishing a book, or do you just let it drag until people tap out?
