A book club member told me my character analysis was all plot summary, so I started quoting less
Last month at our Tuesday meeting, Sarah pointed out that I kept retelling scenes but never said what they meant. She said I was like a movie recap, not a reader. So I tried a new rule for our discussion of The Secret History: I only bring up one quote and then spend 3 minutes on what it reveals about motivation. It felt way harder at first, but now our conversations actually go somewhere. Anyone else get feedback like that and totally shift how they prep?
