Warning: pipe alignment took me 3 days because I skipped the dry fit
On a big vessel job in Gary last month, I rushed a header into position and tacked it up without dry fitting the flange first. Wound up with a 3/8 inch gap on the outlet side and spent way too long fighting it with come alongs. Finally cut it all loose, did the dry fit like I should have, and it went together in 20 minutes. Anyone else learn this the hard way or am I the only one who gets cocky with alignment?
