Saw something odd at a refinery job in Gary last Thursday
I was on a shutdown crew over in Gary and noticed the older guys all had these beat up leather pouches with brass fittings, not the fancy new ones. One guy told me he's had his for 22 years and just replaces the rivets. Makes me wonder if we're overthinking all this new gear. Anyone else still using hand-me-down tools from their first foreman?

Remember my first foreman handed me his old crescent wrench when I retired, and that thing still fits better than any new one I've bought since. Those old tools just have a feel to them, all worn in right where your hand naturally grabs. I'd take a beat-up brass fitting any day over the plastic stuff they push on us now.
