Used to keep a paper scorepad in a ziplock bag, now my whole group plays off one iPad
For about 6 years my Tuesday night group tracked everything on a cheap paper scorepad I kept in a ziplock bag because somebody spilled a beer on it back in 2019. I had columns drawn out for Wingspan, Catan, and about 4 other games, and I'd add up the totals by hand at the end of the night. Then two winters ago my buddy Dave showed up with an iPad and a scoring app, and now nobody wants to touch the paper. The weird part is we spend the first 10 minutes of game night arguing about who gets to hold the tablet and who enters the scores, which takes longer than the paper ever did. I'll admit the app catches math mistakes I used to make, and it keeps a running win total for the group going back to 2021. But I miss passing the pad around the table and seeing everyone's messy handwriting next to their score. Last week I pulled out the old ziplock pad just for fun and my friend Jen said it felt like doing homework. Does your group still use paper or has everyone gone digital too?
