My cousin turned our simple card game into a three-hour debate

We were just playing Uno with the family, but he kept arguing over every draw four card. He even pulled out a rulebook from another game to prove his point, and dinner got delayed.

My friend Greg does this every time we play Catan, he'll stop the whole game to look up a trade ruling from some forum. I mean it's like some people just can't handle fun without turning it into a courtroom show. Maybe it's just me but I see this everywhere now, even in dumb stuff like fantasy football leagues. Everyone gets so hung up on being technically right they forget the point was just to hang out and maybe have a laugh.

@hayes.joel, your friend Greg sounds just like my cousin who always stops game night to look up rules. It turns a relaxed evening into a big argument. I see this in my book club too, where people pick apart every detail instead of just talking about the story. It really kills the fun when everyone needs to be correct all the time. How do you handle Greg when he gets like that?

Totally get what @elizabeth974 means about book club too. Some people just NEED to win so bad they turn a fun game into a paperwork drill. It is the absolute worst when you are just trying to relax and someone makes everyone follow some random rule from a different game.
