Warning: my blurry vacation pics from 2015 got fixed after one tip from a park ranger
Back in 2015 I took around 300 photos at Yellowstone and almost every single one came out soft and blurry, it was so bad I quit taking pics for years. Last spring a ranger at the Grand Canyon saw me fumbling with my camera and mentioned I was holding my breath while pressing the button, which shakes everything. He showed me to exhale slowly and squeeze the shutter instead of poking it. I tried it for a week and my blurry pile went from 8 out of 10 shots to maybe 1 out of 10. I still had to bump my speed in low light but that one change did most of the work. Does anyone here shoot wildlife and have a trick for keeping steady when the animal moves fast?
Same thing happened to me with my dog at the park, turns out I was jabbing the button instead of rolling my finger over it. For fast animals, try shooting in short bursts so at least one frame lands sharp.
