A 60 year old guy in the camera store made me rethink my phone photos
He asked why I was zooming in on my pictures when I could just walk closer, and said phone zoom is just digital cropping with extra steps. Now I'm wondering if I've been overcomplicating all my blurry shots by relying on zoom instead of moving my feet, anyone else get told something that simple and felt dumb?
Yeah that old guy had a point and honestly it stings a little... I used to think zooming in was some kind of skill, like I was getting closer without the effort. Then one day I tried just stepping up to a flower bed instead of pinching the screen, and the difference was night and day, way sharper and the colors looked real. Now I catch myself doing it without thinking, like my feet are the real lens all along.
