Bought a cheap anvil from an online auction and it was a total dud

I spent $400 on a cast iron ASO that cracked after about 20 hours of real forging. The ring was dead and the face chipped way too easy. Anyone have a good source for a decent used anvil around the Ohio area?

Honestly, that sounds like a classic case of a cheap cast iron anvil. They're basically just decorative. Have you checked any local blacksmithing groups on Facebook? They usually know who's selling good used steel.
