Vent: dropped $85 on a bearing press kit that bent on the first hub
I grabbed a cheap bearing press kit off a marketplace listing back in January, thinking 85 bucks was a steal compared to the shop grade ones. First hub I did, the driver rods bent about 20 degrees and chewed up the bearing seat on a customer's rear wheel. I ate the cost of a new hub ($60) plus refunded the tune up, so that bargain kit really cost me close to $200. My coworker Dave just laughed and handed me his old threaded rod setup, which has done maybe 300 hubs without a hiccup. What's your go to for pulling bearings without wrecking the seat, do you make your own tools or bite the bullet on the good kit?
