That $130 derailleur hanger alignment tool paid for itself in one afternoon
Bought the Park Tool DAG-3 after bending a hanger on a gravel ride last month. First customer of the day came in with a brand new bike that wouldn't shift above 5th gear, bent hanger from shipping. Fixed it in 20 minutes instead of sending it back to the shop, and he tipped me $30. Has anyone else had a tool that just clicked after the first real use?

Wait, how many of us have dropped serious cash on a tool and then had it just totally prove itself the very first time?
Man, that DAG-3 is a beast. I did the same thing last spring after I smacked a hanger on a rock garden. Next week, some kid brings in his used mountain bike that skipped gears like crazy. I figured it was a cable issue, but nope, the hanger was tweaked maybe 3 degrees.
I whipped out the alignment tool, fiddled with it for like 15 minutes, and the shifting was butter smooth. The kid was stoked, paid me cash, and didn't even ask for a receipt.
It honestly feels like magic when you get that thing just right, you know? No more guessing or eyeballing it.
It's one of those tools where you're like, "okay, that was worth every penny" and suddenly all the other little specialty stuff I've bought doesn't seem so dumb.
