Just found out why my torque wrench was lying to me all along

Ngl, I've been torquing carbon stems and seatposts for 2 years with an old beam style wrench I got from a garage sale. Last week I checked it against a new digital one at the co-op and it was off by almost 4 Nm on the low end. Turns out you're supposed to store beam wrenches at zero tension, I had it hanging on a peg with the scale pulled back. My lower back bolts have been way undertorqued this whole time. Has anyone else had a calibration scare like this or do you guys just replace wrenches on a schedule?
