Always just waved. Today we bonded over raccoon problems.

Oh man, raccoons are something else lol. Last summer my neighbor and I had a similar thing with squirrels trying to nest in our garages. We both got on ladders to block the vents, felt like a weird team building exercise. Ended up laughing about it over the fence later. Funny how a little chaos can make you actually talk to people.

My garbage lid has bite marks from what I assume is a very picky raccoon. It's like they're leaving Yelp reviews for our leftover pizza. Now me and the guy next door compare notes every Thursday, which is more talking than we did all last year. I guess it takes a common enemy to break the ice, even if that enemy wears a mask and digs through banana peels. We're even thinking of getting matching motion sensor lights, but that might be taking it too far.

Fought off a family of raccoons that learned how to open our patio door last summer. They'd walk in like they owned the place, looking for snacks. My neighbor saw the whole thing from his window and came over with a broom to help shoo them out. We ended up patching the door seal together, laughing at how brazen they were. Now we text each other raccoon memes and keep an eye out, which is way more friendly than before.
