Pro tip: my old manager said "never write it down, you'll remember" and now I'm digging through 3 years of sticky notes
So about 6 months ago my manager at the warehouse in Dayton told me to stop keeping a little notebook because "if it's important you'll remember it, writing it down just slows you down." I bought it at the time because he'd been there 15 years and seemed to know everything. Fast forward to last Tuesday and I spent almost 40 minutes trying to remember which bay the Thursday truck goes to because all I had were 3 sticky notes with half a part number and one that just says "ask Dave." Meanwhile my notebook from last year had the whole route mapped out. I wasted half a shift that could've been spent on actual work, and my boss had the nerve to ask why I was behind. I get that he meant well, but that advice cost me real time and I'm still annoyed about it. Now I'm rebuilding the whole thing from memory and old texts. Anyone else get told to drop a good habit by someone who was just trying to speed things up?
