He said it so plain too. I was buying a new hammer because mine walked off a job in March and honestly I had not thought twice about it. He rang me up and said "this one will outlive me if you keep it." I asked how long he had his and he said 1994, same handle, just re-wedged the head twice. I have gone through four hammers in six years. Part of that is guys borrowing them and part is me not keeping track. But it got me thinking about how I treat tools I did not pay much for. Not trying to make it more than it is, it was just a two minute chat at a register. Curious if anyone here still has a tool from their first year on the job, and if so what made you hang onto it.
