Skip the cheap brisket injector, mine leaked all over my deck

I bought a no-name injector for $14 at a hardware store in Austin last month, figured it would save me from the fancy ones. First cook with it, the plunger stuck halfway through and then the seal blew out, sending beef broth and butter all over my patio boards. It basically wasted 2 pounds of good brisket and I had to rewash the whole flat because it got sprayed with whatever was in the needle. Took me an extra hour to get the meat back on the smoker and clean up the mess. Now I'm back to using a plastic syringe I got for free from a kitchen supply place, works way better. Has anyone else had luck with those cheap injectors or is it all just garbage until you hit the $40 range?
