Spent 3 years biting my tongue during my sister's 45 minute bathroom mirror speeches, finally counted the words last Tuesday
Every time my sister visits our parents in Boise, she goes into the bathroom to fix her hair and ends up talking to herself in the mirror for about 45 minutes. Last Tuesday I sat on the hallway floor with a notebook and tallied every word she said through the door, and it came out to 1,842 words about her coworker Dana's parking spot drama. I did the same thing the next morning in my own bathroom and got through my entire getting ready routine in 9 minutes with 0 words out loud. It got me thinking about how much of my day I spend listening to other people's bathroom monologues versus actually doing my own stuff. The weird part is I felt kind of proud of my 9 minute number, like I finally won some contest nobody else entered. Has anyone else ever timed their own bathroom routine just to see how it stacks up against a sibling's?

1,842 words about a parking spot is honestly impressive in a sad way. That is like a whole essay Dana never asked for. My brother does the same thing except his is 20 minutes of replaying arguments he had at work and winning them this time. I once stood outside the door and heard him say "well actually Greg" four separate times. You should start charging her by the word next visit.
