Am I the only one who walks away from estate sales that have price tags like a boutique?

I hit an estate sale last Saturday in a fancy neighborhood outside Richmond and the lady wanted $40 for a stained Pyrex dish that's chipped on the rim. She told me it was vintage and rare, but I've seen the same thing at Goodwill for $3. Why do some sellers think putting it on a table with a sign makes it worth ten times what it actually is?

Deal with the scratches" until that old Pyrex shatters in your hands from a hairline crack you missed.

That $40 Pyrex is the same one sitting at my local flea market for $8. I was at a sale in Glen Allen where they wanted $25 for a 1970s lamp with a cracked base and peeling paint. It's wild how people think a cardboard sign and a tablecloth make something a treasure.

Honestly I once paid $15 for a "vintage" ashtray that turned out to be from 1994 and still had a cigarette butt in it from someone's housewarming party. So maybe I'm the sucker who keeps these prices going. But for real, a cracked lamp for $25? That's just someone testing how desperate people are for a "project piece." Ngl I'd rather pay $8 for the Pyrex and just deal with the scratches than pretend a busted lamp is a steal. At least with the Pyrex you're getting something you can actually use without worrying about it falling apart.
