Shoutout to that bakery downtown that nearly burned down because of a forgotten loaf

I was at 'Bread & Butter' on 3rd Street last Saturday and saw smoke coming out of the back. The owner told me someone left a loaf of sourdough in the oven overnight and the timer jammed. I walked by this morning and the whole front window was black. Has anyone else had a close call like this with a timer or oven that just won't shut off?

Managed to set my microwave on fire last year trying to dry out an old loaf of bread for breadcrumbs. Left it in there way too long and next thing I know, the whole thing's smoking up something fierce. Had to unplug it and toss it out the back door into the snow. Now I just use the oven on low heat and watch it like a hawk.

Three minutes is all it takes if you actually pay attention, @dakota_patel98. I dry bread in the microwave all the time, just do it in short bursts and watch it. Sounds like you just left it running and walked away.
