Overheard a cashier warning about old baking powder, now I check dates
I was at the grocery in Akron last Tuesday and heard a cashier tell a customer that her cakes kept falling flat because her baking powder expired in 2019. That got me thinking, I had a batch of biscuits last month that never rose, and sure enough my tin was two years past. It seems simple but that age makes a huge difference, so now I write the month on the lid with marker. Has anyone else had a baking fail that traced back to old leavening?

2019? That powder was basically a fossil.
