The nurse at my clinic in Austin told me to stop apologizing for crying, and now I do one small thing after every hard shift
I was at a walk in clinic on South Lamar last week after a rough shift where I lost a patient, and I was apologizing to the nurse for tearing up while she took my blood pressure. She stopped, looked me in the eye, and said "you don't owe anyone an apology for being a person." That one line hit harder than any of the venting I did afterward, so now I'm wondering, what's the smallest thing you do for yourself after a really bad day that actually helps?
