My bear canister popped open on night 2 of the Sierra loop and a marmot moved in with me
So I did the Rae Lakes loop out of Onion Valley in July, 4 nights, and on night 2 my bear canister lid popped open somehow. I woke up at 5:30am to a marmot sitting on my chest, just staring at me, and half my trail mix was gone. I yelled, he didn't even flinch, just slowly walked off with a Clif bar in his mouth like he paid for it. Spent the next hour chasing him around camp trying to get my food bag back while my buddy laughed so hard he couldn't help. Now I tape the lid shut with duct tape every single trip and I don't care if that looks paranoid. Has anyone else had a canister fail on them, or did I just get a bad seal?
