My phone's step counter hit 10,001 steps in the middle of a boring meeting
I was in a budget review at the office in Denver, and my pocket buzzed with a 'milestone' alert. I pulled it out to see I'd just passed 10,000 steps, which was weird because I'd been sitting for two hours. Turns out I'd been nervously shaking my leg the whole time and my phone counted every jiggle. Has anyone else's fitness tracker credited them for steps they absolutely did NOT take?

Got a whole marathon logged just from driving on a bumpy road once.

My old Fitbit used to add about 300 steps just from a short drive down our gravel driveway. I actually turned off step tracking while driving after that, because it felt like cheating the data. Bennett.nora's laundry story makes more sense to me, since you're actually moving your body. Counting a car ride as exercise seems to miss the point of tracking activity in the first place.

Wait, a whole marathon from a bumpy road? That's wild! My tracker once gave me steps for folding laundry.
