Vent: a line guy at BNA told me my static wick bonding jumper was 'optional' and I still think about it
Was doing a quick turn on a CRJ out of Nashville last month and a ramper wandered over while I had the tail cone open. He pointed at a bonding jumper on the static wick base and said the last shop he worked at just left those off because they 'never caused a fault.' I said sure, right up until someone's HF radio sounds like a blender and the pilot writes it up at 35,000 feet. Took me 20 minutes to check all 6 wicks on that bird and sure enough, 2 had jumpers with green corrosion under the lug. I replaced both, wrote it up, and the next day the same plane came back with a comm squawk from a different crew. Turns out loose wick bonds will absolutely throw off your HF and VHF reception, and it took a ramper's bad advice to make me double check every one. Anybody else had a quick turn save you from a writeup later in the week?
