The old hand at the Van Nuys hangar who made me redo a pin job 4 times
Back when I was green on avionics, an old tech named Ray watched me crimp a cannon plug pin at Van Nuys and quietly said "do it again" without even looking up. I redid it 4 times before he nodded and told me he could see the wire strands peeking out from across the bench. He never raised his voice or made a thing of it, just kept handing the crimper back until it was clean. Ten years later I still hear his voice when I pick up that tool. What habits did an old hand drill into you that you still can't shake?
