That old mechanic at Gulfstream back in 2003 told me something about connectors I still use today

He pulled me aside during a 2am wire chase on a G550 and said 'son, always twist the shield wire before you crimp it, because vibration will kill a loose ground every time,' and that one tip has saved me more rework than any fancy tool I ever bought since.

That shield wire tip is golden but man it reminds me of something else from back then. I was working on a 737 in 2005 and this old timer showed me how to zip tie the slack in a bundle just right so it wouldn't rub against the frame. He said "loose wires are like loose teeth, they'll fall out eventually." I thought he was being dramatic until I saw a bundle that had chattered through its jacket in like six months. Now I leave just enough slack for movement but not enough to flap around. It's the little things that keep you from pulling your hair out later.

Dude that advice is GOLD, I saw the same thing happen on a job site last year.
