Tbh I think the 3,000 mile oil change is a waste, and a guy in Tulsa proved it to me
Last month a retired machinist brought his 2016 F-150 into the shop in Tulsa with 214,000 miles on it, and he'd been running full synthetic at 7,500 mile intervals the entire time with oil reports to back it up. He showed me the lab sheets and the wear metals were lower than trucks we service at half that mileage, yet half the guys in my bay still swear by the 3k sticker on the windshield. Am I wrong for thinking we're just selling peace of mind at this point, or does anyone here have a real failure story that says otherwise?
