I quit buying remanned alternators and went with a local rebuilder in Flint, and my wallet is still mad it took me this long
After the third reman alternator died in a year, I stopped buying them and paid a guy named Sal on Lewis Street in Flint $40 more to rebuild the original off my truck. That was two years back and it is still putting out a steady 14.2 volts. The parts store units all tested fine on the bench but kept eating brushes in real driving. What's the going rate for a local rebuild in your area, because I'm never going back to the box stores for this stuff.

Sal on Lewis Street sounds like the real deal. Forty bucks extra to never touch a box store unit again? That's a no brainer.
