That almost killed a customer's car last week" is wild. Something similar happened to a buddy of mine at a shop he worked at. A tech didn't check the alignment rack's safety locks, and the car slid right off the lift. Just barely caught it before it hit the ground. Ended up bending the control arm and scratching the paint bad. The shop had to pay for the whole repair out of pocket. Now he checks those locks twice before putting any car on the rack. That kind of failure can wreck a car real fast.

Nah, that's on the customer for buying a car that couldn't handle a little slide. If the tech is busy and the locks fail, maybe the car should've been lighter or better built.
