Can we talk about the 3 hour water pump bolt on a 2004 Corolla?
Last week I had a 2004 Corolla in the shop for a water pump, and one of the bolts behind the timing cover was seized so bad I had to pull the whole front of the engine apart to get a torch on it. What should have been a 2 hour job turned into a 6 hour nightmare, and I'm still not sure if I should have just cut the bolt head off from the start. Has anyone else dealt with a stuck bolt that made you question your whole career?
Cut the head off first next time, I learned that the hard way on a Civic. Saved me an hour and the bolt came right out with vice grips once the pump was off.
