The paint booth timer reset that cost me a whole fender in Tacoma
Last Tuesday I was shooting a 2018 silver Camry fender and the booth timer kept kicking off at 20 minutes because the previous guy never adjusted it for the primer flash. I figured I could just reset it and finish the clear, but the temp had already dropped and the clear started fisheyeing something awful. Had to sand the whole thing back down to bare metal and respray, burned about 3 hours of my afternoon and an extra $40 in material. Now I check the timer settings before I even tape up the first panel, no exceptions. The shop foreman just laughed and said he's seen that happen a dozen times, but nobody ever writes it down. Anyone else run into a booth setting that messed up a job and you had to eat the time?
