Spent $400 on a used MIG welder off a guy in Fresno, best or worst money I ever spent?
Bought a used Lincoln 140 off a guy in Fresno about 6 months ago for $400. One side of me says it paid for itself in 2 months doing small patch panels and exhaust hangers instead of farming that stuff out. The other side is that I spent 3 weekends chasing wire feed problems and porosity before I found a cracked liner, plus another $60 in parts. So was $400 a steal or did I just buy somebody else's headache for cheap? Curious what you guys think is the cutoff on used gear before it just ain't worth the hassle.
