My neighbor swore I could save $200 a month by switching to a heat pump water heater

I tried it last summer and my electric bill actually went up $45 a month for the first 6 months. Has anyone else had a heat pump not save them money in Atlanta's humidity?

You sure your unit was sized right for your house?

That whole "sized right" thing is a perfect example. My buddy had a brand new unit put in last summer, the guy swore it was perfect for his house. It ran nonstop for two months and his electric bill went through the roof before he finally called a different company to check it out. Turns out the first guy just looked at his old unit's tonnage without doing a load calculation, so it was way too small for his actual square footage and windows. He had to pay to rip the whole thing out and get a properly sized one, cost him a fortune more than if they'd done it right the first time.
