Figured the Beltline was just hype for tourists, but walking it near Krog Street changed my view
I moved to Atlanta 4 years ago and kept putting off the Beltline since I figured it was packed with tourists and not worth the hassle. Last Saturday I walked the stretch by Krog Street Market around 8am and it was calm, shady, and full of locals on bikes and dogs. I grabbed coffee at a little spot on the Eastside trail and ended up doing 2 miles without even noticing. Anyone got a favorite quiet section to hit early on a weekday?
The stretch north of Ponce near the skate park is pretty dead on weekday mornings, especially before 7:30. Also try the part past Irwin Street toward Inman Park, it's wide there and you get way fewer people than the Krog area. Weekday early is the move, by 9 it starts filling up with strollers and the pace slows down.
