The Milky Way photo I took in 2016 has more stars in it than I ever counted
I was zooming in on an old shot from a campsite near Bishop, California and realized the tiny smudge I always ignored is actually the Andromeda galaxy, so now I'm wondering how many other accidental deep-sky objects are hiding in everyone else's 'throwaway' frames, have you ever found something huge in a photo you nearly deleted?
There was some article about how astrophotographers go back through old shots and find stuff like the Andromeda galaxy or nebulas they never noticed before. Turns out a lot of those faint blobs are real objects, just too dim to see until you blow the image up or stack a bunch of frames. Kind of makes you want to dig through every old photo you almost tossed.
