Spent 3 hours on a full moon shot, got a blurry mess instead
Tried stacking 150 frames of the full moon last Tuesday with my Celestron 8SE and a 2x Barlow. Stupid me didn't check the seeing conditions, the atmosphere was boiling that night. Ended up with a soft, mushy image that looked worse than my single 1/250th second shot from my phone. Anyone else waste a whole evening on a setup that the weather app could have told you to skip?

Tuesday at 9pm local time was my check, and the moon was still wobbling like jelly in a heatwave. I used to stack everything too, but now I just do a quick 30 second test shot before committing to the hour long process. If that test frame looks soft, I pack it in.
