Wasted $120 on a 'premium' packing cube set, still use trash bags

I ordered this fancy packing cube set online after reading all the hype about organized luggage. The set showed up last Tuesday, six cubes in different sizes, and honestly they feel like glorified pillowcases with zippers. I spent an hour stuffing them for a trip to Portland and they never actually compressed anything, my suitcase was still a mess. Then I remembered I could just use grocery bags to separate dirty socks and shirts, which works way better and costs nothing. The zippers already snagged on a sweater before I even left the house. Has anyone else tried those supposed space-saving organizers and just gone back to the cheap method? What's the move here besides burning these things?

Man, just use the cubes to keep trash bags from sliding around in there.
