My internet sleuthing on a $50 router was backwards for 2 years

I spent two years blaming my ISP for dropped video calls in the kitchen, even bought a 60 dollar range extender that did nothing. Then my cousin visited and said, 'your router is sitting inside a metal cabinet, why?' I moved it three feet and the signal doubled. Has anyone else had a dumb placement issue that made them question their whole setup?

Laugh at my own router sitting on the floor behind a couch for a YEAR because I thought the cable was too short to move it. Turns out a 10 dollar extension cord fixed everything. My wifi went from 1 bar in the bedroom to full bars. Dumbest part is I work in IT and still did this. The metal cabinet thing is honestly hilarious though, at least you had a real excuse.
