Right, because my financial logic is rock solid. Saved five bucks on the fare, so of course I spent twelve on a sourdough loaf. The math mathses.

Skip the obvious cash savings. A weekly pass kills the tiny voice in your head that asks if a trip is worth it every time you leave home. Last Tuesday, I rode across town just to try a new bakery because the fare was already paid. Without the pass, I'd have stayed home and eaten stale crackers. That's how you turn transport into adventure without spending extra.
