Figured out the trick to sharpening my own chainsaw blades after years of paying $15 at the shop
I was tired of dull blades slowing me down on trimming jobs around the property here in Ohio. Watched a couple videos and tried using a flat file at a consistent 30 degree angle instead of those cheap sharpeners, and it cut like new after 10 minutes. Anyone else find a simple fix that saved them time and money?

Wait, did you actually manage to hold a 30 degree angle perfectly freehand with just a flat file? I tried that once and ended up with one side steeper than the other. What worked better for me was drawing a line with a sharpie on the tooth and using that as a guide while filing. It gave me something to compare against as I went. How did you keep your angles consistent without a guide?

My first attempt at chainsaw sharpening ended with a blade that looked like a angry beaver had chewed on it. The flat file trick sounds way smarter than my method of guessing the angle and hoping for the best. Might have to give that a shot before I end up spending another $15 on a pro to fix my mess.
