My neighbor in Fargo pointed at my gutters and said one sentence that fixed my flooding
He said the downspout was dumping right onto my foundation and to run it 6 feet out with a $12 extender. Rain last week and my basement stayed dry for the first time since we moved in, so what else around the house am I totally missing?
I always rolled my eyes at the "check your downspouts" advice, figured it was too simple to actually matter. Then I finally moved mine out and my crawl space stopped smelling like a swamp. Now I walk around the house looking for dumb stuff like that every spring.
