I thought my neighbor was nosy for bringing up my trash cans, then I watched what happened on pickup day
For two years I rolled my bins out the night before and figured it was fine, until Linda across the street mentioned at her mailbox that the raccoons on our block have figured out the latch trick and she waits until 6am now. Sure enough, last Tuesday I found my recycling spread across the driveway at 5:30am and spent 20 minutes picking wet cardboard out of the grass. Does anyone else on a Thursday pickup route actually get up early for this, or am I the only one losing the battle?
Two years of rolling bins out at night and honestly the raccoons only got me maybe three times total. Linda's raccoons must be smarter than mine because the latch trick thing sounds like a stretch. Wet cardboard in the grass is annoying for sure but 20 minutes of cleanup once is still better than dragging myself out of bed at 5:30 every single week. Sounds like a lot of work to avoid a problem that barely happens.
