Watching a silver maple compartmentalize in Poughkeepsie over 3 years changed how I prune
I left slightly longer stubs on a silver maple in Poughkeepsie back in 2021 and the callus wood closed clean over the cuts by last fall, while the flush cuts I made years ago on the same tree are still open and rotting. Has anyone else tested stub length on softer woods like maple, and did you see the same thing?
